On 25 April 2014, just a month before the European Parliamentary Elections, EPP politicians will gather in the Polish city of Poznan for a Summit of EPP regional and local political leaders. Together with their candidate for the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude JUNCKER, participants will debate how to bring growth and jobs back to Europe’s regions and cities.
Prime Minister of Poland, Donald TUSK will deliver the keynote address.
The summit of EPP regional and local political leaders aims to provide a platform for EU politicians, including EPP candidates for the new European Parliament mandate, to explore the challenges and successes of implementing EU regional policies together with representatives from the regional and local level. It will also showcase EU success stories and recipes for managing European funds in a smart way.

On the occasion of the European Day for People with Disabilities, the European Commission announced the winners of the competition for the most disabled-friendly city. Poznan was awarded third place, while Swedish Göteborg was first and the French City of Grenoble - second . The Access City Award 2014 was received in Brussels by the Mayor of Poznan, Ryszard Grobelny.

Once the EU's 2014-2020 budget is confirmed by the European Parliament and EU member states, Cohesion Policy will invest € 325 billion in Europe's regions and cities to deliver the EU-wide goals of growth and jobs, as well as tackling climate change and energy dependence. Taking into account the national contribution of member states, and the leverage effect of financial instruments, the overall impact is likely to be more than 500 billion euros.
