jan-koncert.jpgThe Brussels concert of film music composed by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, 2005 Oscar winner for the soundtrack to “Finding Neverland”, received a standing ovation!! This very successful performance honoured the celebrations of the 5th anniversary of the Wielkopolska Region’s presence in Brussels. The event, held at the Flagey’s Cultural Centre, on September 16th, 2008, was hosted by Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region. The composer himself guided the audience through the world of film music.The most beautiful works of the artist were performed by the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra and the Academic Choir of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań under the baton of Marek Pijarowski. Marek Szpakiewicz, outstanding cellist living at present in Los Angeles, played the solo pieces.The concert was an occasion to listen to life performance of Jan A.P. Kaczmarek’s score to a new movie "Passchendaele" which opened the Toronto Film Festival in early September. Gathered guests welcomed the presented compositions and perfection of their performance with great enthusiasm.Many renowned guests accepted Marshal Marek Woźniak’s invitation to participate in this unique for m.woniak-koncert.jpg the Wielkopolska Region event. Sławomir Czarlewski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of Belgium, Jan Tombiński, Permanent Resident of the Republic of Poland to the European Union and Volker Hoff, State Minister of Hessen for Federal and European Affairs, were just some of them. The concert was also honoured by the Members of the European Parliament, members of Diplomatic Corps from numerous countries, Councillors of the Sejmik of the Wielkopolska Region, representatives of the EU institutions, members of self-governments and representatives of the world of culture. “The Information Office is our home in Brussels”, said Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, during the ceremonial gala. “It is a place of important meetings for Polish people coming from the Wielkopolska Region and living in Brussels and for the members of the Wielkopolska Club. Thanks to the Office’s activity, the residents of the Wielkopolska Region found their place in common Europe much faster. They made use of this open gate to Brussels, which made it possible for the representatives of the self-government, universities, business people and many others to reach with their enthusiasm and hunger for being the Europeans the right place”, said Marshal Marek Woźniak. sala-koncert.jpgSławomir Czarlewski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of Belgium, when talking about the widely celebrated anniversary, emphasized that Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, is the forerunner of the best role models of promoting Poland in the capital of the European Union.

The celebrations of the 5th anniversary of the Wielkopolska Region’s presence in Brussels were organized mainly by the Information Office of the Wielkopolska Region in Brussels. This is a regional office seated in the capital of the European Union. The main tasks of the office include promoting the Wielkopolska Region in Brussels, facilitating the flow of information between our region’s local authorities and the most important EU institutions and supporting self-governments and entities from the Wielkopolska Region in acquiring funds from the European Union.
